Our key success factor is our ability to effectively and seamlessly utilize the skills and competences of our strategic investors, the Cleantech focused Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences, the core of the Green Campus area in Lappeenranta, Lahti and Mikkeli.
Long track record in cleantech commercialization
According to its Trailblazer Strategy, LUT aims to be a global forerunner in developing new technology and commercial solutions for sustainable business, and making the world a better and greener place to live. It has also a long history and tradition in cooperating with other universities with matching competencies.
Instead of traditional faculties, LUT has established three Schools as competence centers with several cross-functional research platforms, to focus on sustainable, integrated solutions of technology and business. LUT has also a long tradition of technology partnering with industrial companies, and for decades LUT has been actively contributing new research innovations to intellectual property portfolios of several globally leading corporations.
LUT and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences have also promoted the development of their joint campus area in Lappeenranta, the internationally awarded Green Campus. The aim is to “live as they preach”, including use of own wind and solar power plants, focus on energy efficiency, clean water, waste and wastewater reduction and in general, a green and healthy environment to live and study in.
From the CEO
Dear friends, welcome to visit Green Campus Innovations webpage!
Green Campus Innovations Ltd. was established three years ago under the name Lureco Ltd., by Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), LUT’s Research Foundation and Society for Viipuri School of Economics (Vitako).
Each of the founders made a firm investment commitment to be used for seed equity investments in the spin-off companies from the LUT research.

Pertti Miettunen, CEO
2015 has been an active year of ramping up our business model into a new, open and proactive business development mode. First, we expanded our operations to cover also the deal flow development, by launching new hands-on incubation and venture acceleration processes and a corporate spin-off venturing program. The company name was at the same time changed to Green Campus Innovations Ltd.
Later this year, Saimaa University of Applied Sciences joined Green Campus Innovations as a new shareholder and investor. This has not only strengthened our investment capability, but also significantly improved our incubation capabilities at the Green Campus area.
We are dedicated to “putting our money where our mouth is”. We have invested seed equity in two groundbreaking technology start-ups Endev Ltd. and Aurelia Turbines Ltd. already, and we have several new cleantech start-up businesses under construction in our incubation and acceleration pipeline.
Last, but definitely not least, we are extremely proud and happy to announce that in the end of October we have agreed with Lahti region development company Ladec Oy to establish a new joint venture company “Nordic Innovation Accelerator Ltd.” as our subsidiary. Ladec’s present Nordic Innovation Accelerator business, including the biggest cleantech investor event in the Nordics, Cleantech Venture Day, the Corporate Venture Program and the related business networking platforms Accelerator and Matchmaker, will be transferred to this new company.
We are more than proud to welcome Nina Harjula and her team to join us!
Nordic Innovation Accelerator has perfectly matching competences with Green Campus Innovations. Together these two companies will be able to offer full-range new business development services for the entire cleantech sector. Due to our combines skills we have established a totally new, university supported cleantech business development platform, which we call “Marketplace Green Campus”.
So stay tuned – more will follow soon!

Developing Corporate Spin-Offs into New Start-Ups
We provide an effective, outsourced incubation and acceleration platform to our industrial partners for their own non-core spin-offs.
Our model is based on the Marketplace Green Campus platform, a platform for developing new business between industrial and other large corporations, the leading cleantech universities and the innovative SME teams within our Nordic Innovation Accelerator network.
The incubation and acceleration of these combined innovations into new start-up companies will be jointly managed by Green Campus Innovations and Nordic Innovation Accelerator. We will also help in recruiting new team members.
Green Campus Innovations will seek outside funding for, and also make own equity investments in the new start-up companies, which are successfully established as a result from the Marketplace Green Campus platform.
This arrangement will integrate the industrial and university technologies with the most innovative start-up teams in a most effective way.
This will enable our industrial partners to focus on their core business areas while being able to extract value from their non-core spin-offs
The mutual brainstorming sessions at the Marketplace Green Campus platform are built to serve as an effective source for new innovations, and also to offer informal and close networking opportunities between our industrial partners’ professionals, SME teams and the researchers and students of LUT and their research partners.
Unique cleantech business development platform “Marketplace Green Campus”
Our new Marketplace Green Campus is a platform for developing new business between industrial and other large corporations, the leading cleantech universities and the innovative SME’s within our network.
It is also an excellent platform for developing and accelerating corporate spin-offs into new start-ups, and in particular in creating new circular economy techology and solutions and industrial symbioses.
Through our Marketplace Green Campus model we will be able to create new, attractive cleantech investment targets for both Green Campus Innovations and other Venture Capital investors.
